The Long Drive Home

After a lot of tears, we set off early Monday morning for a long drive.  On the way up, we stopped for two nights, however, the kids needed to get back to school so we had to book it home.  We drove from Bismarck to Wichita, KS on day 1.  The kids did great!!!  I'm blessed to have really good travelers.  Here are some pics of the "nothing" we saw along the way. It really was educational and beautiful.

A small town in South Dakota.  I think the population was 300.
Pretty much what we saw all day long.
Juliana is still mad/sad that we had to leave.
Jackson's feeling better after a long nap.
Gerrit - before the speeding ticket.
A house for sale in the middle of nowhere South Dakota.  We thought about taking a look.
 Frozen lakes.

 Pretty hills.
This was the town's school.  Elem thru High School.
Who knew Gerrit owned a gas station in South Dakota???
Eating lunch in Gregory, SD.  This is the place where everyone turned to stare when we walked in.  They also did not take credit/debit cards so Gerrit had to walk down to the bank to get cash.
This is how Pepsi stays in business.  Along the way, everyone had Pepsi, not coke, on the menu.  They also call Soda "Pop".  So funny!
 Nebraska!

And so it went.  We don't have pics of Kansas because it got dark.  We were very happy to get to our hotel room after 14 hours of driving on that first day.  We were also happy to get home the next day.
